Another decent sleep. Definitely the coffee! (Of course, it could also be that the cough has almost gone, but I’ll stick to the coffee.) We are now exactly two thirds of the way through our adventure and effectively, are on the downhill leg for home.
A leisurely day at sea, in prospect, which usually means lots of chatting and the blog getting further behind. After a bacon buttie with HP sauce and an OJ, it was an earlier run than usual to the Vista lounge for trivia at 9:45. We were joined by two ladies, one of whom contributed nothing and the other gave us a load of wrong answers! With just 10/20, we didn’t win.
Down to the atrium for some brain liquids (a bit late) and as usual, sat with Norm and Marion, Tina and Trevor. Hint for those who like a decent sized cup of coffee on board. Go for the large takeaway cup, as it hold 2.5 times as much as the glass latte mugs.
Back to the cabin to regain strength and do a bit more blog work (gee, it is tough at times) until a very late lunch snack at 3:15pm – almost afternoon tea time. Just a soft roll with a slice of the day’s roast - stuffed veal.
The afternoon trivia was yet another second place with 16/20, which is pretty good. Ros as always writing down the majority of the answers for confirmation by the nodding heads. I think this was the first trivia we had done, run by Deputy Cruise Director Bernie. She promised us a Chilean question – so we just had to guess which one. She’s a nice lady with a very infectious smile and laugh and is proving to be very popular.
Time to try and catch up with an email or two to racers back home and to the cyclists, who are of course away. There are times when the internet is painfully slow, which is very frustrating, but we have so many minutes between us that in terms of using up our allowance, it is nothing. With 30 days to go, we have about 4,000+ minutes between us, which should see us through!
We were very hungry come dinner time and after singing happy anniversary to Bob & Deb (35 years wed), we headed for the atrium again for another late evening coffee with M & M. Well, coffee for Mal and I, drinking chocolate for Megan and Paula and a chat to bar supervisor Melldon. Paula wanted to watch the US tennis final, but there is no way she’ll stay awake long enough to see the result…
Another new port (and country) for us tomorrow – Valetta in Malta, where once again we’ll do our own thing but we have been told it is a nice sail in. We won’t set the alarm.
