Yes, another two days at sea and for the first of them, it started off as for the previous one – rough, though it did start to ease later in the day. I reverted to a cooked breakfast - I needed my eggs - and a hot lemon and honey drink to help the throat and to complement the Coldrex capsule. Outside, it still looked misty and grey, not at all what we should be experiencing on a vacation. The wind was still howling and deck 7’s promenade was still closed.
I haven’t concluded the Horizon buffet Tour – yet, but need a pic or two! A slight correction/addition. The cereal section I mentioned is only for granola, grapenuts, All Bran and some sort of small bran flakes, but the other dishes are various jams, marmalades, peanut butter and probably Nutella. Nutella is also often available at the waffle station – waffles with Nutella and fresh cream. Wow!
I’m sure you can guess the Trivia result.
I did manage a short sleep to help restore the body, before we had a coffee in the atrium. The spectacular atrium goes from deck 5, through 6 (shops), 7 (entertainment plus art gallery/lounge level) to 8, the famous pizzeria and less famous casino, (though in some cases, that may be reversed) and the coffee is available on 5 & 7. We generally go down to level 5, as the walk back upstairs to the cabin is good exercise, particularly for the legs and ankles and watching the waves crashing against the windows is sort of mesmerising.
The meal timing had to be reshuffled a wee bit as we were due at the Venetian dining room for our Cruise Critic (Dawn Nomads) “Mad Hatters Tea Party” at 3:20, sneaking in before the usual opening of 3:30pm. This was another initiative from Ros, ably assisted by Joanne, and we must have had 70 or 80 people attend again, with a wild variety of hats.
Thanks to our good friend Oscar, I had borrowed 4 of his “cheeky” masks, but I was the only one wearing one –this time. Paired with the black Afro wig, it may not have qualified as a hat, but Paula refused to walk in Public with me. Can’t think why.
A great hour or so but the general consensus is still, “How come Princess can do so much spectacular food, yet produce such terrible scones?”
The afternoon quiz didn’t net us any prizes.
Fortified with yet another Coldrex, I didn’t eat much at dinner, just most of the steak (see pic) and with the rough seas and rain, some shows have had to be rescheduled, so they sneaked in a 50’s – 90’s Dance Party, relocating it from the Riviera outdoor deck to the Vista lounge. The resident group “Nexus” did a fine job but we arrived too late for the cruise staff’s Y M C A rendition, but we did catch their “Spice Girls” performance, choreographed by Corey. Brilliant! It was also so good to see the ship’s dancers and cruise staff dancing with passengers and enjoying it. Assistant Director Alex looked the 50’s Nerd (pic) and I think this is the first time we have had an all-male entertainment staff and they really do work well together and get into the spirit of things - though Paula didn’t recognise cruise director Mark (who has a shaved head) wearing a long blonde wig and wearing high heels… They are also not above playing jokes on each other, the main culprit being Marcus it seems.
Another day at sea tomorrow, but it won’t be boring as it is Paula’s birthday and hopefully a lot smoother, though winds are still high as we head out of the Indian Ocean and head towards the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, but apparently, we will have to take on fuel before the canal, from a barge, so no idea where or when. No Coldrex tonight, so I must be over the worst now.
